Simple Scones

Ingredients

  • 8 oz (227 grams) Plain flour
  • 1 oz (28 grams) Butter
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 Heaped teaspoon of Baking powder
  • Tiny pinch of salt
  • Small amount of Milk to bind

Method

  • Rub in the butter into the flour
  • Add the salt and baking powder
  • Whisk up the egg
  • Make a well in the flour mixture
  • Pour in the egg and a splash of milk
  • Knead the mixture into a dough ball
  • Place the dough onto a floured board
  • Roll out the dough until it measures 1” (2.5 cm) thick
  • Cut out the dough into circles
  • Place onto a greased and floured baking tray
  • Bake at Gas Mark 6 – 200°C - 400°F for 10 to 15 minutes until lightly golden
